It was writer-director Jun Robles Lana’s bittersweet exploration of this technological phenomenon that distinguished this film from other films during the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. It had a lighter, more youthful tone that delivers an important message about our interpersonal relationships and how the Internet and social media impacted our lives. This film will make you reflect on how to nurture the relationships that you value most, perhaps old-fashioned, low-tech way, a very far cry from Millennial lifestyle.
I admire the cinematography and consider it pop due to very colorful background, good musical score and very charming characters. Jameson Blake, Markus Paterson, Sue Ramirez were all instagram-worthy in every scene. You may find a familiar plot, when a nerdy boy stalks a pretty crush who is already romantically involved with a popular boy. The nerdy guy will take his chances, perhaps a lot of risks just to get close with his crush who may need a knight and shining armor and then to discover that it would be him after all.
There’s an important twist in the end, tear-jerker but very refreshing and creative. I think this film will be important for our younger friends to understand how to empower himself or herself and value things that goes beyond digital social affirmations like hearts or thumbs up!
It was a cute film, love the vibrant colors, actors with perfect skin, with light drama and a good bonding with younger friends.
FYI: Jerome Ponce was replaced by Markus Paterson due to conflict with his schedule.
